University Heights is well known for its coffee shops, bars and night clubs.  Situated in central San Diego, the neighborhood is also known for it’s artists and art studios located on Park Blvd.  There is an abundance of night life and most nights there is live entertainment somewhere in the city.  A wide range of housing is also available, from million dollar mansions to humble cottages, apartments and condominiums.

University Heights got its name back in the 1880′s when there were plans to erect a university during the current land boom.  In the early 1900′s University Heights became one of the local neighborhoods to be connected with the public transit system through streetcars.  Today residents are trying to bring back the streetcar, even going so far as to pass petitions to resurrect the streetcar era.
